« Arrive neither by strength, nor by gold, but by your courage, your sincerity, and your merit »
Baron de Beauchesne is the eldest of a family whose origins go back to the Capetians with Bouchard III, Seigneur de Montmorency (991-1040). They were squires to the King, knights, lords, counts, viscounts, and barons.
It was during this period that the de Beauchesne family distinguished itself.
In 1802, Napoleon Bonaparte acquired two pavilions and a hunting park not far from Saint-Cloud. He appointed Baron d’Hanneucourt, a renowned hunter and friend of Baron de Beauchesne, to head his hunting team.
During a hunt, Baron de Beauchesne offered Napoleon Bonaparte and his General Staff, through Baron d’Hanneucourt, his finest Cognacs.
After becoming Emperor in 1804, Napoleon Bonaparte remained a discerning connoisseur, as barrels of Cognac accompanied him to St. Helena.
In 1976, Olivier de Beauchesne, discovering a few bottles and elements of his family’s ancestral blends, set out on a quest to reproduce these exceptional Cognacs identically.
In 2004, at his request, Philippe Ciofolo continued the search for a renaissance of these cognacs with the same respect for tradition and excellence that had made the de Beauchesne family famous in the 11th century. Indeed, against a backdrop of confrontation, honor and loyalty they fully identified with the philosophy of their coat of arms.
2023 sees the launch of the different brands of the Maison Baron de Beauchesne. The search for the best suppliers in terms of distillation, ageing and blending, not forgetting bottling, labels and gift boxes.
